Hi, I’m Tania Lopez
Chef, cultural storyteller, event professional, writer, and creator of Make Food Your Passport®.
While my journey began as a culinary educator, event planner, and cultural cuisine enthusiast, I’ve evolved into a passionate writer and curator of experiences that celebrate food, culture, and creativity.
Inspired by my Abuelita’s (grandma) cherished recipes, I’ve spent over 17 years blending flavors and stories, from the sun-soaked shores of Spain to the vibrant heart of Puerto Rico. Today, I share my passion through writing, storytelling, and helping others connect with their cultural roots through food, home design, and intentional living.
Join me on this journey where food is more than just a meal—it’s a passport to culture, history, and connection. Follow my latest musings on Medium and let’s explore together!
My Journey
I founded Coqui the Chef® in 2007 with a belief that food could open doors to culture, confidence, and connection. What began as a culinary education business grew into nearly two decades of classes, events, media appearances, community programs, and shared experiences.
My mission
I believe food, wine, and storytelling help us understand where people come from, what they value, and how they gather. My work connects those experiences to culture, heritage, place, design, and personal reinvention.
How we can work together
I create approachable wine experiences, and cigar experiences, cultural event concepts, educational content, moderated conversations, and collaborations that bring people together through food, wine, culture, and story.
